A Little Clarity Goes a Long Way
Frequently Asked Questions
Straightforward answers for homeowners and the local businesses they want to find.
Finding a Local Professional
What is Select Choice?
Select Choice Contractors & Trades Directory is a place to browse local business advertisements by service and city. You review the information and contact the businesses you choose.
Do I need an account to find a contractor?
No. You can browse the public directory and business advertisements without creating an account. Accounts are used by businesses preparing and managing ads.
Does it cost anything to search?
The public directory is free to browse. Businesses pay for advertising plans; any project price is discussed directly with the provider.
How do I search by trade?
Choose a service category and city in the homepage search, or use the filters on Find a Professional. The results show current eligible advertisements matching those selections.
Which areas are available?
The current city choices cover North Georgia and metro Atlanta, including Gainesville and surrounding communities. Other states are prepared for future expansion but are not currently open for selection.
What if my city has no listings?
The directory is growing. Try a nearby city where practical and ask the business whether it serves your property. An empty search means no current ads match those filters, not that no contractors exist in the area.
Can I contact a business directly?
Yes. Use the contact details and links provided in its advertisement. The company handles project discussions, availability, estimates, and agreements directly with you.
Does Select Choice choose a contractor for me?
No. You decide which businesses to contact and evaluate. The directory does not assign a provider or make your hiring decision.
Are businesses screened or certified by the directory?
No. Listings are advertisements and do not imply screening, certification, endorsement, or a guarantee of work. Independently verify relevant claims before hiring.
Do listed businesses serve every nearby city?
Not necessarily. The city field identifies the listing location, but each business confirms its own service area and availability. Ask about your property early in the conversation.
Planning and Hiring
What should I prepare before contacting a contractor?
Describe the location, main scope, desired result, and timing considerations. Photos and approximate measurements can introduce the project, but the professional should verify relevant dimensions and conditions.
How do I choose the right trade category?
Start with the main work. Cabinetry, flooring, and painting may be focused specialties; a broader renovation can involve several trades. Ask who coordinates the overall project when multiple services are needed.
Should I compare more than one proposal?
Comparing proposals can help you understand different approaches. Use the same project brief and compare included work, materials, preparation, exclusions, and coordination before comparing totals.
Does the lowest price mean the best fit?
Not automatically. Different totals may represent different scope or assumptions. Ask for an explanation of the differences and evaluate the work being proposed against your priorities.
How can I check credentials?
Ask the business for relevant details and verify them with the appropriate licensing authority or insurance provider where applicable. Requirements depend on the location and type of work.
What should I ask about project photos?
Ask which parts of the pictured work the company completed and whether it has examples similar to your project. A photograph can help explain experience but cannot independently verify every claim.
Who handles permits and property-specific requirements?
Discuss responsibility directly with the professionals and the appropriate local authority. Requirements vary. A directory page cannot establish which approvals or professional services your particular project needs.
Can the directory confirm insurance claim coverage?
No. A restoration category does not establish coverage or claim approval. Discuss policy, claim, and payment questions with your insurer and the relevant professionals.
Can I get an instant project estimate here?
No. The directory introduces businesses. Each company determines how it assesses a project and provides estimates or quotes.
What happens if a project changes?
Discuss the provider’s change process before work begins. Keep clear records of proposed options, approved changes, and questions so everyone understands the current scope.
Advertising Plans and Publication
How much does a business advertisement cost?
Monthly plans are $9.99 for one ad, $15.99 for two ads, or $24.99 for three ads. Review the plan cards and checkout for current pricing and terms.
Are yearly advertising plans available?
Yes. Annual plans are $95.90 for one ad, $153.50 for two ads, and $239.90 for three ads. They are paid upfront and reflect 20% savings against twelve monthly payments, rounded to cents.
How does the first-month-free offer work?
Use the matching coupon on an eligible monthly plan. The one-ad plan uses FIRSTMONTH, then renews at $9.99/month. The two-ad and three-ad cards show FIRSTMONTH2 and FIRSTMONTH3 and their renewal prices. One use per customer for the applicable plan.
Does the monthly coupon discount the annual plan?
No. The free-first-month launch codes apply to the corresponding monthly plan’s first billing cycle. Annual plans have their own displayed annual discount.
Do I need payment details to create an account?
No payment information is required just to create an account and prepare a draft advertisement. You select a plan when the listing is ready.
Can I save a draft?
Yes. Use Save Your Ad as a Draft while preparing the advertisement. Drafts remain unpublished until you make the ad ready and have eligible plan coverage.
Can I preview an advertisement?
Yes. The account page provides a preview so you can review the content, primary photo, and other details before making it ready for publication.
Does someone manually approve each ad?
No manual approval is required in the publication workflow. Completed eligible ads publish automatically when payment or an applicable free promotion is confirmed, within the plan’s allowance.
What happens if I have more ads than my plan includes?
The plan covers its included number of eligible ads in creation order. Review your saved advertisements and choose the allowance that matches the number you intend to publish.
Does Select Choice take a percentage of my jobs?
No. Select Choice charges for advertising. You and the customer discuss project services and payment directly.
Do subscriptions renew?
Yes. Advertising subscriptions renew automatically until canceled under the applicable plan terms. Review the billing schedule and conditions shown at checkout.
Does an ad guarantee leads or Google rankings?
No. An advertisement provides a directory presence but does not guarantee inquiries, work, indexing, or a particular search ranking.
Listing Content and Account Tools
How many photos can I add?
Each ad supports up to ten photos. Choose a primary photo to appear in search listings, and use the others to show relevant project examples.
Can I add my logo?
Yes. The listing form includes a separate business logo upload in addition to the project photos.
How long can the business bio be?
The bio supports up to 5,000 characters. Use it to explain services, project types, service area, and how customers should begin an inquiry.
Can I add business videos?
Yes. Each ad accepts up to three YouTube video links. Use relevant videos that you are authorized to share and test that they can be viewed as intended.
Can I add my website?
Yes. Enter the business website address in the listing form. If you do not have one, select the corresponding checkbox to see the website-service information link.
Can I connect a Google Business Profile?
You can add a link to your Google Business Profile. Visitors can open it to read information there. Automatic review importing and Google account connection are not currently enabled.
How does the ad title tag work?
The generated title uses the selected service, city, and business name. Keep those fields accurate. Search engines may choose different title text in their results.
Can I edit the meta description?
Yes. The form supplies a generated description and lets you edit it. Make it an accurate summary of the service and location rather than a list of repeated keywords.
How much keyword text can I enter?
The keyword field allows up to 1,000 characters. Suggestions help identify service and location wording, but they are not verified search-volume data or ranking guarantees.
Are the AI tools connected to a live AI service?
Not yet. The current panels offer prompts, templates, keyword suggestions, checks, and a preview. Review all suggested content for accuracy before publishing.
Are referral billing rewards active?
No. Referral codes and tracking are in setup. Free-month rewards and actual subscription credits are not active and should not be treated as earned or applied.
Can I return to edit my listing?
Yes. Sign in with the account that owns the advertisement and open it from your saved ads. Review its publication status and plan coverage after making changes.
